Anika's Story

Anika Dubey | India

My name is Anika, and I have been playing squash for 5 - 6 years. I picked squash because I love the speed of the game and how it combines mental and physical skills. Squash requires patience, discipline, and you need to look for opportunities.

Values I think are applicable in life also.

SquashSkills covers all aspects of the game - technique, movement, tactics etc, and it has helped me a lot with movements and important shot techniques like the drop and drive for example. It’s also helped me get a better understanding of the game overall.

I was having trouble covering the whole court while playing and was missing a lot of balls. But then I saw the series on movement by Thierry Lincou , which really helped my movements on and off the ball. I was also having trouble digging out deep balls from the back, and thanks to the series on digging the ball out of the back corner by Jesse Engelbrecht on I am much better at it now...

My proudest achievements in 2022 were when I was the Asian Juniors's bronze medalist from India in the GU-13 category.

Later that year I also won the Indian Junior Nationals in the GU-13 category.

Squash teaches a lot of life skills. For example it teaches patience, perseverance and it requires on the spot thinking skills combined with physical aspects like speed, agility and hand to eye coordination.
